In 2005, I collected some of the abundant garbage from the no longer so paradisiac beaches of Cozumel Island, Mexico, which comes from cruise boats, tourists, and the fact that Cozumel has no public garbage service on the beaches, which are only cleaned by some hotels that own the private ones.The garbage was taken to the island's museum, selected by colors and mounted into a wooden sculpture of the word TUYO ( YOURS) or You-Me. I went to schools, tourist centers, malls, and other public places, intervening them temporarily and recording what happened with different audiences.

Back in 2005, the situation was already alarming. Now in 2020, the oceans are dying from our waste. Sadly, most of the plastic packaging that has a "recyclable" label is never recycled and has never been recycled for decades, but is actually an advertising campaign for the plastic industry which has triplicated thanks to these false labels. The major plastic industries that have lied to all of us since the eighties and made billions. Plastic is not recyclable. It never has been. A small portion of it It takes another shape but it remains. Every plastic item you have ever touched is still there, while we are encouraged to "recycle".

Saying that it is all up to consumers has been a big plastic business where the plastic producers industry thrived the most, keeping the users attention in recycling and not in what they produce.

Recycle will not do it. Plastic juts has to go if we want to stay. This cannot be delayed.
